Minecraft has yet again proved itself to be an unstoppable force in the gaming industry, becoming the third best-selling game on the Nintendo Switch in the UK. The latest UK videogame sales charts revealed that Minecraft was the seventh best-selling game on Switch last week – up from the no.10 spot last week. (Note that this data reflects physical game sales only).

This means that the Mojang Studios sandbox game has listed in the top-40 sales charts for 193 consecutive weeks. And as of this week the game hit an impressive milestone surpassing Nintendo’s first-party giants such as Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and the entire Pokémon franchise. Only Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons have outsold Minecraft on the Switch in the UK.

While this is quite an impressive feat, it shouldn’t come as any surprise given that Minecraft is the best-selling game of all time overall, across all platforms, not to mention the most popular game on YouTube, having become the first game to reach 1 trillion total views on the platform in late 2021.
