Microsoft’s Tech Community is now live, bringing community consolidation full circle

MVP,Microsoft is a company that thrives off of its community, but sometimes problems can arise if that community isn’t managed properly. With a company that has its fingers in so many proverbial pies, it can be hard to successfully maintain support and community websites for each imaginable service. In the hopes of consolidating some of Microsoft’s community into a more central website, the Microsoft Tech Community officially launched just a couple of weeks ago.

Today we are pleased to announce the launch of the Microsoft Tech Community, bringing multiple communities together in one central location to support discussions and best practice sharing across a variety of Microsoft products and services.  The Microsoft Tech Community is an evolution of the Office 365 Network, growing to support new Azure; Windows Server, and SQL Server Communities and in future many more communities.

The new website offers a great forum of communication for several different Microsoft tech-related subjects, allowing a host of different users to chime in and offer their help. In order to help users distinguish who they’re talking to, users in the Microsoft Tech Community will have their avatars outlined with a different colored circle that shows off their role, identifying them as either a Community Manager (red) a Microsoft Employee (blue) or an MVP – short for Most Valuable Professional (green).

The community has been in testing for a while, but now that it’s out in the wild, it’s going to be facing a much larger challenge. Hopefully, with the help of some good community management, the new Microsoft Tech Community website can become a worthy hub for everybody who loves Microsoft’s software.
