Another app has been released to add to the collection of Microsoft Garage projects. This one is called Arrow Launcher, which is an app launcher for Android. The app lets users experience a new interface that makes it easy to find recently and frequently used apps, contacts, notes and reminders.
Arrow users can do many of the same things that can be done on the default Android Launcher, including rearranging and hiding pages, and adding widgets to the home screen. What’s interesting is that users have the option to can change their wallpaper to Bing’s homepage image, which will changes the background image daily.
Considering Microsoft is a big fan of a tile-based home screen interface, Arrow Launcher feels a bit more like an iPhone launcher in a way than something that came from Microsoft. It should be noted, many of the projects that come out of Microsoft’s Garage, are done by developers with interest in other OS beyond Windows. Nevertheless, the app looks interesting, and may appeal to many users looking for a simple replacement to the default launcher on their Android devices.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with what Microsoft Garage is, it’s a project lab where Microsoft employees can spend their extra time working on experimental projects. Both Microsoft Garage and the some of the apps created by it are great initiatives, as some real handy apps can come of it. You never know, some of the apps could change how we do certain things in our everyday lives.
Users who want to try the app out can download the app for free from the Google Play store from the link below.
