Microsoft just announced at its Canada’s Annual General Meeting that the company would move its established 2,000 plus employee operations to a state-of-the-art facility in the heart of downtown Toronto.

81 Bay Street, will be home to Microsoft’s new 132,000 square foot headquarters, housing over four floors of CIBC Square. The new Canadian HQ will include a Microsoft Technology Center augmented with learning spaces designed to encourage AI development from the neighboring student body.

This new office represents just one of a series of major investments we have made in recent years, which will enable a significant expansion of Microsoft’s Canadian operations, including adding 500 employees and growing our development center in Vancouver and AI research lab in Montreal.

Microsoft’s new HQ comes as another lofty investment into its working partnership with the country of Canada, where the company had previously invested in Canada’s Digital Technology Supercluster. The CDTS has been projected to generate 50,000 new jobs for the area that will help provide greater long-term employment circumstances for Canadian residents.

Microsoft’s HQ move is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2020 with the help of the Canadian Leadership Team.
