Microsoft to release first Xbox One 1910 (19H2) build to Skip Ahead Xbox Insiders today

Xbox Insiders on the Skip Ahead ring are about to receive a first build from the new “19H2” development branch today. Head of the Xbox Insider program Brad Rossetti announced the “huge leap forward” today, though we don’t have any details about new features coming in the 1910 update for the Xbox One.

Now that Skip Ahead Insiders will get early access to 1910 builds, Microsoft will continue to test the next Xbox One update (1904) with Preview Alpha and Beta Insiders. This new system update will introduce several new features including a virtual mini keyboard, a new Restart console button on the Power menu, as well as a revamped Xbox Messaging experience with Message Requests.

The Xbox One 1904 update is expected to ship next month alongside Windows 10 19H1, and it’s interesting to note that Skip Ahead Xbox Insiders are now getting access to 19H2 builds while Skip Ahead Windows Insiders are already testing the Windows 10 20H1 update that will ship in the first half of 2020. This is all a bit confusing, but the Windows Insider team previously said that 19H2 builds for Windows 10 would come later this Spring once the 19H1 update is almost ready.

It’s likely that this first Xbox One 1910 build won’t bring any new features, but we’re waiting for the Xbox Insider team to share more details. We’ll update this post if there’s anything interesting in the release notes.

Update: The release notes are now live and as expected, this first 1910 build brings no new features but various fixes for Blu-ray playback, Party Chat, and My Games and apps. The build will be available to download today at 2PM PST.
