Microsoft has just announced a free event for mixed reality developers ahead of its Build Developer conference in May. The Mixed Reality Dev Days, which will be held on May 2-3 at Microsoft’s Redmond headquarters, will have various sessions dedicated to HoloLens 2, the Azure Kinect development Kit, as well as new mixed reality services and developer tools.

We are excited to announce you can now apply to attend MR Dev Days, May 2-3 at the @microsoft campus in Redmond

“We designed Mixed Reality Dev Days for YOU – experts in mixed reality and the many aspects of cloud and AI technology that come with it, from computer vision to hologram creation. If you are a mixed reality developer looking to get training on our developer platform, tools, services and devices, Mixed Reality Dev Days is a great fit,” Microsoft explained in an FAQ for the event.

All developers interested in the free event can apply for an invitation until noon PST on April 5. Spots will be limited, but Microsoft may open applications for a second wave if all the spots are not filled on Friday. “Our aim is to have a wide range of mixed reality developers and designers as our audience, and any info you can provide below will help us to make sure that happens,” the company explained.

The free event won’t provide as much information as Microsoft’s annual Build developer conference, which will kick off on May 6 at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, but it should be a great opportunity to get some training on Microsoft’s various mixed reality tools.
