Microsoft to hold digital event on March 30, Microsoft 365 for consumers likely in the cards

Microsoft has started sending invites today for an online March 30 event that will revolve around productivity. According to ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley, Microsoft could use this event to announce “Microsoft 365 for Life,” a consumer version of the Microsoft 365 enterprise bundle that currently includes Windows 10, Office 365, and Enterprise Mobility and Security for businesses.

There have been reports about a consumer version of the Microsoft 365 bundle for quite some time now, though it’s still not clear if this will be a refresh of the existing Office 365 Home and personal bundles, or a new package that brings additional services. In addition to a “Teams for Life” consumer app that Microsoft could be working on, Foley also heard about a new password manager from Microsoft, which would be very interesting if true.

“I am hearing from my contacts that no Microsoft hardware will be announced or shown as part of this anticipated M365 consumer subscription event,” Foley said today. In other words, don’t count on the Surface Book 3 and Surface Go 2 to be announced during this March 30 event.
