At Ignite 2020, Microsoft announced that it would begin rolling out the new Virtual Breakout rooms in Teams at some point during this month. However, the Microsoft 365 Roadmap listing now suggests that the company has delayed the rollout of breakout rooms.

The entry on Microsoft’s roadmap was updated last week, and it indicates that the feature is expected to be rolled out to all users in November. By the look of things, the release schedule has been updated based on the feedback received from the early adopters. Microsoft is probably working on addressing some additional issues before making it available to everyone.

It is important to note the Breakout rooms feature is getting a lot of use in Zoom these days. Indeed, it’s the most highly anticipated of all the Microsoft Teams new features. With Breakout rooms, meeting organizers will be able to split participants into smaller groups for discussions. In case you missed it, the new capability is currently available in preview, it has been designed to help teachers and companies to facilitate brainstorming sessions. As usual, we’ll keep an eye on its release and will update you once it begins rolling out.
