Microsoft takes down the download links to Windows 8.1 August Update

Microsoft, which released the Windows 8.1 August Update earlier this month, has now taken down the download links without giving any reason. The company has withheld the links to both the x64 and x86 versions of the August Update.

While the download links are still listed on the company’s official website, upon clicking them you will be greeted with “The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable” error instead of initiating the downloads of the installation files.

The company hasn’t provided us with a reason, but over the last few days, several issues have been reported with the update. Numerous complaints of boot screen going black after installing the update can be found on the company’s official support page.

At this point, we believe that the company is working on fixing the aforementioned bugs. We’ve reached out to Microsoft, and will update the post when we hear from them.
