Microsoft Surface helps one electronic artist take her performances to a new level
After being out of the gaming market for so long, it seems like Microsoft’s Kinect was made to be an artistic piece of hardware. For years now, we’ve been seeing artists use Kinect sensors to do all sorts of things – none of them involved with the Xbox. The latest artist to use the Kinect is Alison Wonderland, who’s spoken to Microsoft about how she uses Microsoft technology in her shows.
Regardless of whether or not you like electronic music, Alison Wonderland’s performances are off the wall – and she owes the latest visual tricks in her performance to Microsoft. Watching the new promotional video and reading Microsoft’s accompanying piece, you’ll find that the DJ and her team are putting together something truly spectacular.
It’s another example of how Microsoft’s technology is being used in unexpected ways to do things it was never meant for. The Kinect was made to be a gaming peripheral, but as it was tossed out by the gaming community, other inventive people were able to pick it up and use it to do some truly fantastic things. Here’s hoping that Alison Wonderland’s new tour – starting on August 5th – will run without a hitch.Further reading: Kinect, Microsoft, Surface
