Microsoft’s newest promotion for the month of February offers up a free Windows Phone powered Nokia Lumia 1020 or Lumia 1520 if you trade in your old iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, or Galaxy S2. This offer ends March 2nd and requires a new or two-year upgrade contract. Microsoft wants you to ditch your iOS or Android smartphone and make the switch to Windows Phone!
The Nokia Lumia 1020 comes with a 41MP camera featuring PureView technology, Optical Image Stabilization, and amazing high-resolution zoom. The Lumia 1520 comes with a 20MP camera and features a large 6-inch 1080p display. Both smartphones are flagship Windows Phone devices in the market right now.
This offer began February 3rd and ends March 2nd, in stores only. Of course, your eligible trade-in device must power on and be fully functional. In order to receive the maximum trade in value, you must purchase an eligible Lumia 1020 or Lumia 1520 with a new, renewal, or two-year upgrade plan at the same time.
Interestingly enough, this particular offer applies to the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, which is quite an old device. You can get the iPhone 4S on a new two-year contract for free at Verizon in the US. The iPhone 4S was released back in late-2011, while the Android-powered Galaxy S2 was released in early to mid 2011. Comparatively, the Lumia 1020 on AT&T runs for $99, with new two-year agreement. The Lumia 1520 starts at $199. If you are still lugging around one of these old devices, this offer might be worth your while.
Not to be outdone, the Microsoft Store is also offering up to $250 in store credit if you trade in your old smartphone or tablet. Keep in mind that it is “up to” $250 – you aren’t guaranteed to get the entire amount. It is nice to see some incentives from the Microsoft Store.
