Microsoft rolls out big update to Bing apps for Android and iOS, comes with a fresh new design

Microsoft has been working hard to show some love on the Android and iOS platforms – unveiling today a big update to the Bing apps for Android and iOS. With this update, we get a brand new design and a few new features to go along with it.

“We have been hard at work updating our apps for iOS and Android. Today we are proud to announce major redesigns of the iPad and Android Bing apps. In addition to a fresh new design, we decided to do something special with this release. You have told us that one of the things you love most about Bing is the homepage image of the day. With that in mind, in this release we’ve made it simple for you to set the homepage image as your lockscreen,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.

Here’s what’s new for the Android app:

  • Redesigned UI and many new features
  • Set Bing daily image as your Android wallpaper!
  • Fix pinch to zoom in/zoom out when browsing web pages as well as some crash bugs.

Here’s what’s new for the iOS app:

  • Access News to quickly find out what’s happening from homepage.
  • Enhance the stability of “back” button.
  • Enhance daily image hotspot searches.

In the Android app, with the press of a button displayed on the app’s home screen, you can set Bing’s daily images as your lockscreen background. In the iOS app, log in with your Microsoft Account, and click the button at the bottom of the app to go through the process of saving the image to your Camera roll and then applying that image as your background.

“In addition, this update allows users to sync bookmarks and images saved in the app.  All you need to do is sign-in, bookmark a page in the app on one of your devices, and this bookmark will sync across your Bing apps on iPad, iPhone, and Android,” Microsoft explained.
