Microsoft reportedly working on ‘Mohoro’, lets you stream Windows from the internet

According to a new report, Microsoft is working on something called “Mohoro” which could be a way to stream a Window installation via the internet. Microsoft has not offered any official details on this but a new report offers a bit of insight.

Over at ZDNet, Mary Jo Foley is reporting that Microsoft is working on “Mohoro”, in addition to Windows Blue. Mohoro is slated to be something called “desktop as a service.” This desktop virtualization service would pretty much snag a Windows installation with apps from the internet remotely onto a device, rather than having Windows installed on a local device.

Mohoro would be a pay-per-use Windows “desktop as a service” that will run on Windows Azure. “The same way that Windows Intune is the cloud complement to System Center, Mohoro seems to be the cloud version of Remote Desktop/Remote App. The aforementioned Remote App/Remote Desktop allows Windows users to connect to a remote Windows PC and access resources from it,” Foley explained.

This type of “desktop as a service” will be a godsend to businesses who will no longer have to deal with individual PCs. Rather, they can now grant or deny access to an employee with ease. Microsoft has made no public mention of Mohoro and Foley is claiming that we may see this during the second half of 2014.
