Indian readers, rejoice! The recently launched Lumia 830 handset is arriving in India in the month of October. The handset will be launched for INR 26,000 ($430), according to a new report.
Microsoft is planning to lower the price of 4G and 3G capable handsets in India to boost its market share. “We want to continue to push point lower and lower than anything we have today. That’s the statement for both 3G and LTE (4G) because that is the thing which gives us scale of the ecosystem,” Microsoft’s Mobile Device Sales, Corporate Vice President Chris Weber told PTI.
When launched, the Lumia 830 will become the cheapest 4G offerings from Microsoft in the country. The Lumia 635 is the cheapest handset from Microsoft , but it isn’t available in India. Similarly, the Lumia 735, which is priced at around Rs 17,500 hasn’t arrived in India yet.
Over the past few months, two leading Indian mobile carriers Reliance and Airtel have started rolling out 4G network in several cities. In the coming months, Vodafone and Idea will also begin to offer 4G connectivity on their networks.
The Lumia 830 is a decent smartphone that boasts high-end specification at an affordable price point. It sports a 5-inch display with the screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. Inside the device sits a Snapdragon 400 processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM, the handset runs Windows Phone 8.1 and Lumia Denim updates out of the box.
One of the most interesting feature about it is the 10MP shooter with Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization, something that Microsoft before Lumia 830 had only employed on the high-priced premium devices.
