Microsoft releases Xbox Live companion apps for Windows Phone and iOS

Microsoft has released a new Xbox Companion app for both Windows Phone and iOS to coincide with the latest update to the Xbox dashboard. The new app is called “My Xbox Live” and it allows users to read/send messages, edit their profile, update their avatar, manage friends list, and monitor achievements.

The My Xbox Live iOS app is listed on the app store and is described as: “Take your Xbox LIVE experience wherever you go with the My Xbox LIVE app. Track and compare your achievements, connect with your Xbox LIVE friends, and change up your 3D Avatar. Review all your recent great games you and your friends love to play and compare achievements with them. Jump into our games hub to learn about the latest LIVE games and apps. Access Xbox Spotlight feeds, get breaking news from Xbox LIVE, game tips and tricks, gamer spotlight and much more.”

However, the iOS app is a little limited. The Windows Phone version has a few more features such as the ability to search for games, music, and movies on Xbox Live. You can also view second screen information while using your console. As described in the Windows Marketplace: “Discover great entertainment with the power and convenience of your Windows Phone! Search for your favorite movies, TV shows, music, and games, and play them on your Xbox from your phone. Xbox 360 console and Xbox LIVE membership required.”
