Microsoft releases Windows Terminal Preview 1909 and shares roadmap for version 1.0

Microsoft released yesterday a new preview of Windows Terminal, the new command-line tool that it introduced at its Build developer conference earlier this year. Windows Terminal Preview 1909, now available on both the Microsoft Store and GitHub, introduces many new features including support for the new Cascadia Code monospaced font that Microsoft is developing along Windows Terminal.

Other new additions in this latest release include a Settings Schema providing auto-fill suggestions when editing your profiles.json file, Stylus selection support, as well as a new “closeWindow” key binding option for the Terminal. This latest preview also includes a fix for a bug causing the app to sometimes crash when copying items, and you’ll see that copying text from the Terminal will now respect newline characters.

Microsoft plans to have a feature complete version Windows Terminal by the end of the year. Windows Terminal 1.0 is expected to be released in April 2020, and the team plans to release updates every four weeks once the app goes out of preview.
