For most companies, access to analytics is as easy as getting wet during a rainstorm nowadays. However, it’s the use of a powerful business intelligence (BI) platform that can make the difference between continued success or stagnation. Fortunately, for most companies there are a vast array of BI platform providers available, many of which do an incredible job of funneling data, but there is only one that can claim to be a nine-time leader in the industry.
Industry analyst Gartner has position Microsoft as a Leader in BI platforms for a ninth consecutive year based on the Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms. While Microsoft’s recent achievement adds another notch to its BI business platform, Gartner’s positioning also comes with a noteworthy asterisk as the requirement to remain a Leader has changed slightly from previous years.
The establishment of an updated modern BI and analytics platform definition for this year’s Magic Quadrant has significantly transformed the Leaders quadrant relative to is composition in previous years. In a market that is rapidly evolving with new innovation being introduced constantly, leaders in the BI market must demonstrate that they are focused not only on current execution but have a robust roadmap that will solidify its position as a future market leader, protecting the investment of today’s buyers.”
Not only has Microsoft claimed the top spot for a ninth consecutive year, but due to the company’s proposed roadmap of evolving feature sets and planning, it has also assured itself a place that is furthest in vision in the Leaders quadrant, for the first time.
However, if companies aren’t easily swayed by Magical Quadrants, relatively obscure accolades or praise, Microsoft would also like to point to its more than 90,000 organizations in over 185 countries that utilize its powerful BI platform daily.
With Power BI, anyone can develop rich and compelling stories that perfectly visualize data. And Power BI is continually upgraded by our community of engineers, partners and users, so the tools get better every day.”
As the more companies latch on to the utility of meaningful BI, Microsoft appears committed and ready to help enrich its industry leading tools.
