Microsoft pushes new firmware updates for Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book running the Creators Update

Microsoft has just released new firmware updates for Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book owners who have already installed the Windows 10 Creators Update (via Neowin). According to the changelogs, these latest updates should improve video playback on both devices while offline, and there are also some improvements to Cortana speech recognition on the Surface Book.

Here are the full changelogs:

Surface Pro 4

  • Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology(Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller in System devices: 09.21.00.2102 improve video playback on installed apps while offline.
  • Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) OED in System devices: 09.21.00.2102 improve video playback on installed apps while offline.

Surface Book

  • Realtek High Definition Audio(SST) in Sound, video, and gc’s: 6.0.1.7895 improves Cortana speech recognition.
  • Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller in System devices:  09.21.00.2102 improve video playback on installed apps while offline.
  • Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) OED in System devices: 09.21.00.2102 improve video playback on installed apps while offline.

If you have already installed the Windows 10 Creators Update on your Surface Pro 4 or Surface Book, you can download these updates right now by checking Windows Update. Let us know in the comments if you notice any improvements after proceeding.
