Today, Microsoft have revealed details about their upcoming version of Office, Office 15, which has just entered a closed technical preview. Microsoft have announced that they plan to release a public preview in the summer this year.
Microsoft have today announced its plans for Office 15, Microsofts next version of the ever-popular office suit. The company has revealed that customers under a non-disclosure agreement is testing the lastest software right now, but the NDA should stop them from leaking it.
“This morning, we reached an important development milestone: the beginning of the “Office 15″ Technical Preview Program. Office 15 is the codename for the next generation of the Microsoft Office products and services, and the Technical Preview is the first time we share our work with a select group of customers under non-disclosure agreements. These customers play a key role in our development process by testing early builds and providing feedback, which we incorporate into the final release.”
The blog post also reveals plans for a public preview, which is set to launch this summer. The company also states that this will be a big update. “Office 15 is the most ambitious undertaking yet for the Office Division. With Office 15, for the first time ever, we will simultaneously update our cloud services, servers, and mobile and PC clients for Office, Office 365, Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, Project, and Visio.”
Microsoft is expected to launch the public beta for Office 15 which features the new Metro UI during the summer of this year, which should seamlessly integrate into what the Windows team have been working on for months with Windows 8.Further reading: Microsoft, Office
