Office Web Apps, which was launched back in 2010, is set for one major update that will add real-time co-authoring. Microsoft has seen an increasing demand for fluid/dynamic collaboration when working online. In essence, you will no longer need to refresh when engaged in co-authoring with this new update.
“Since first introducing co-authoring in the Office Web Apps, we’ve seen an increasing demand for more fluid and dynamic collaboration capabilities when working online. We’ll introduce real time co-authoring in the Office Web Apps so that all file authors will automatically see presence and edits from others as they happen without needing to refresh. This is a subtle change, but a great enhancement to enable even richer collaboration,” Microsoft explained.
The software giant has published a first look video at this new feature for Office Web Apps and this feature is set to roll out in the coming months for Windows, iOS and Android. “We walk you through real-time co-authoring beyond pure text editing across Word, PowerPoint and at a cell level in Excel, as well as net new capabilities previously only available on the desktop,” the video description explains. Take a look at the feature in the embedded video below.
