Microsoft has just announced that it will be lowering the prices of it’s most popular Azure virtual machines. The move is all part of the company’s commitment to offering Azure customers the best possible prices.
Overall, as part of the price changes, General Purposes Instances, Compte Optimized Instances, and the Av2 series will be dropped. Takeshi Numoto CVP, Cloud and Enterprise offered up the following summary of the price changes in a post on the Azure blog.

- Av2 series: In November 2016, we will introduce new A series virtual machines (Av2), with prices up to 36% lower than the A series Standard VM prices available today.
