Xbox Game Pass

Yesterday we reported that Microsoft Gaming CEO and head of Xbox Phil Spencer had authored a statement in response to the UK CMA’s concerns over the Activision Blizzard deal.

In that statement, which can be read in its entirety over on the Microsoft blog, Spencer specifically mentions Activision Blizzard franchises and Game Pass in the breath.

We intend to make Activision Blizzard’s much-loved library of games – including Overwatch, Diablo and Call of Duty – available in Game Pass and to grow those gaming communities.

Although this isn’t unexpected, it is still exciting news for Xbox fans with Game Pass. While we don’t know any details of what exactly Game Pass subscribers will have to look forward to once the Activision Blizzard deal is complete (which Spencer believes will happen by the end of the 2023 fiscal year next summer), it is fun to speculate.

Which of the umpteen Call of Duty games will come to Game Pass? And which of Activision Blizzard’s other franchises will Game Pass members be treated to? There are so many intriguing possibilities…
