Microsoft launches Stranger Things-inspired Windows 1.11 app, Windows theme, and STEM camps in the US

| |

Following some mysterious tweets last week and the discovery of the Windows 1.11 app on the Microsoft Store, Microsoft’s marketing campaign for Netflix’s Stranger Things season 3 has reached a new milestone today. The Windows 1.11 app is now available to download for everyone on the Microsoft Store, and it's a recreation of Windows 1.0 with a Stranger Things twist, as if the OS had been taken over by the Upside Down from the popular series.

In addition to the Windows 1.11 app, Microsoft also released a Windows Throwback theme on the Microsoft Store that will take your Windows 10 PC back to 1985, and there’s also a free Stranger Things 3 theme with some cool-looking wallpapers. You may also want to take a look at the "Jump back to summer 1985" collection on the Microsoft Store, which includes several movies and games curated to bring back that 80's nostalgia.

Last but not least, Microsoft will also hold some Stranger-things inspired “Camp Know Where” STEM camps at Microsoft Store locations in the US this summer. Attendees will be able to learn to code their own video games with MakeCode Arcade, or create Stranger Things videos with mixed reality and 3D. If you live near a Microsoft Store, you can register for these events on this page.
