Microsoft launches Office for Android, no longer in preview mode

Microsoft has today announced the general availability of Office for Android, which means the software is no longer in preview mode and is available to everyone for production use. Microsoft Office for Android includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.

Office for Android has been built from the ground up, much like the iOS and Windows 10 versions. The UI is very similar and works much like you'd expect it too as well. Microsoft is also thanking those who participated using the preview version, as over 250,000 preview users conducted feedback and tests.

System requirements include "devices of screen sizes 7 inches or larger (a device with screen size greater than 10.1 inches will require an Office 365 subscription to create and edit), with an ARM based processor and 1 GB RAM or above". Android KitKat 4.4.x is the supported OS, however the software does run on Lollipop too.

You can download the full version of these apps directly from the Play Store now, which is great news for those Android users who are heavily dependent on Microsoft Office.
