Microsoft Launcher 5.8 brings optimized search experience and more to Android users

Jonny Caldwell

Microsoft Launcher has officially been upgraded to 5.8 (via MSPU). After just barely over two weeks since it was initially available in testing, the update is already heading to all users.

First off, business users will likely appreciate that as IT admins, they have the option of configuring the home screens of managed devices, including the wallpaper, apps placement, and even the availability of the left screen feed. Additionally, the app also includes a couple improvements that all users may take advantage off, including optimizations in the search experience as well as support for automatically having new apps appear on the home screen. Here’s the exact changeling, for those who might be interested:

  • Newly installed apps can be added to home screen automatically for devices running Android 8.0 and above.
  • Search experience is optimized so the local results are easier to access.
  • Microsoft Intune Fully Managed Devices Support- IT pros now can configure home screen experiences for managed devices, including wallpaper, home screen apps, app icons placement, and feed availability.

Given that the beta is now generally available to all users, this likely means that 5.9 should he heading to beta testers soon. If you’re interested, you can download or update the app using our link below.
