[Updated] Microsoft is investigating Teams outage affecting chat messages and Live events

If you’re having issues with Microsoft Teams right now, you’re not alone. The company has acknowledged that Teams users may experience delays in receiving chat messages or be unable to join live events, and it’s currently investigating.

According to the company, the issue is currently impacting users in North and South America. “We’ve identified a potential networking issue that may be causing the problem. We’re working to confirm our findings while simultaneously exploring the optimal solution to remediate impact,” the company said a couple of minutes ago on the Microsoft 365 Twitter account.

It’s certainly not the first time that Teams is having issues, and you may want to try using the Teams web app instead of the desktop app to see if this changes anything. Update 3PM PT: Microsoft says that things should now go back to normal. “A majority of the impact has been mitigated. We’re monitoring the service to ensure full restoration and will take any necessary action if impact persists,” the company said on Twitter.
