A developer for Microsoft’s augmented reality HoloLens headset has released a video preview of a project he’s working on called, HoloLens Lightning Strikes Back. The video is essentially a demonstration of how HoloLens can be used to create an immersive first-person shooter video game experience through its ability to map real-world objects, such as staircases and furniture, and have digital characters interact with them. This demonstration also showcases the device’s voice command capability, which admittedly needs a lot of work, and the gyroscope which are used to attack and dodge respectively.
HoloLens Lightning Strikes Back is obviously a work in progress but its potential is enormous. Just imagine what a game studio with more money and resources at its disposal could accomplish with this technology.
