Microsoft highlights tremendous Office developer opportunity at Build 2016

Microsoft Build 2016 developer conference is currently underway, and Microsoft Executive Vice President for Applications and Services Group Qi Lu was on stage today to highlight the tremendous Office developer opportunity as we are switching to a cloud-first, mobile-first world. According to Qi Lu, Microsoft’s productivity suite claims today the largest commercial user base with 1.2 billion Office users around the world, with 340M downloads of Office Mobile apps so far.

Office 365 is also going strong with small businesses, as Microsoft is currently gaining more than 50 000 new customers per month. Last, Qi Lu also shared some stats about Microsoft Graph, which is the company’s unified Office 365 programming interface that developer can leverage to build smarter apps. The API has seen a 420% monthly growth of API calls, which shows that developers are clearly embracing the technology and Microsoft’s productivity suite.
