Microsoft Garage is the company’s internal group of developers who put together experimental and innovative apps that don’t quite warrant mainstream release. The Garage team doesn’t seem to care much about which platforms they support, and they’re certainly not locked into Microsoft’s own Windows 10 ecosystem.
Today, the Microsoft Garage released another Android-only app, Trip Tracker, that aims to record your various travels for posterity. Here’s a complete description of the app:
Trip Tracker, a Microsoft Garage project, is a free app that automatically records your drives, runs, walks, and bike rides. The app works in the background, and will auto detect when your activity has started. Download Trip Tracker and make to easier to remember the trips you’ve taken.
Features include:
1. Automatic trip tracking
2. Start and end time, duration, and path for each trip
3. Battery efficient location tracking
4. Support for multiple activities including drives, walks, runs, and bike rides.Trip Tracker is built using Microsoft’s Location and Observation Platform, LOOP (https://www.loop.ms). LOOP is an Android and iOS SDK that provides location insights and analytics for your app.
For reference, LOOP is an SDK for Android and iOS for aggregating location stats that’s easy to integrate and battery efficient. The SDK is in private beta, but you can learn more and sign up to use LOOP in your app here.
Download and install Trip Tracker on your Android device via the link below. After you’ve had a chance to check it out, come back and let us know in the comments how you feel about having your activities recorded to show off to your grandchildren one day.
