During Build 2015, Microsoft released Flight Arcade, inspired by the original Microsoft Flight Simulator and designed to show off the new web experiences with Microsoft’s newest browser Edge. Utilizing WebGL, WebAudio, and GamePad API, this new simulation experience works amazingly well on the Microsoft Edge browser.
“Inspired by the original Microsoft Flight Simulator, Flight Arcade is a new web experience that will have you flying in seconds. With the latest web standard technologies – WebGL, WebAudio, GamePad API and more – it shows what’s possible on the new Microsoft Edge, the browser for doing. Yet all the code works great across browsers and devices,” Microsoft explains.
The game is really simple to use — control your aircraft as you earn achievements and pass levels. You can even unlock new airplanes and use your keyboard or joystick to control the aircraft, right on your browser thanks to the GamePad API. Head over to http://flightarcade.com to give this free-to-play flight simulator a try using Microsoft Edge for the best experience. You can also run this game on Chrome or Firefox, but we noticed a better experience when using Edge.
