Microsoft is looking to entice Windows 8 and Windows Phone app developers by offering $100 per app that gets approved by the software giant. This is yet another tactic from the company to elicit more participation from app developers and to increase the software giant’s app inventory for its two major platforms.
“Publish your app(s) in the Windows Store and/or Windows Phone Store and fill out the form at http://aka.ms/CashForApps to participate. You can submit up to 10 apps per Store and get $100 for each qualified app up to $2000. Offer good only to the first 10,000 qualified applications published in the Windows Store and/or Windows Phone Store, or until the end of the promotional period, whichever comes first. Limit 10 entries per publisher ID and up to $2,000 per person,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.
If you are an app developer and interested in obtaining this money from Microsoft, simply publish your app to the Windows Store or Windows Phone Store until June 30th of 2013. Developers can publish up to 10 new apps per Store and get a $100 Virtual Visa for each app that qualifies. This offer good only to the first 10,000 qualified applications published and developers can earn a total of $2,000.
In order to enter the contest, developers much be a legal resident of the United States and be 18 years of age or older. Each of the apps submitted (10 maximum) must be unique and different. The standard app certification requirements for the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store still apply.
The first question that comes to mind is, will Microsoft be picky of what apps are approved or will the software giant simply use this “cash for apps” tactic to bolster the company’s app catalogue. Come July of this year, lets see how many quality apps are in the store as a result of this campaign.
