Microsoft Edge’s autoplay media setting is missing in Insider build 17692, team says it’s on the way

Microsoft today pushed out Windows 10 Build 17692 and a highlight feature in the release was the ability to control whether sites in Edge can autoplay media. We were actually excited to test this out, but quickly discovered that it was missing from this build. Well, it turns out that Microsoft apparently was a “tad early” and “jumped the gun” with announcing this autoplay control, and the feature is not yet officially present in the build.

Kyle Pflug from the Microsoft Edge team tells me that the feature is on the way but didn’t make it into this flight just yet. He further detailed to consider it a spoiler for an upcoming new build. In fact, Pflug even says that there’s a newer version of the feature on the way which will include broader work on settings.

I can't guarantee next week as there's actually a newer version of the feature on the way that includes broader work on Settings, so a few branches will have to come together, but it should be soon!

In related Windows Insider news, Microsoft also says it is working on a fix for the issue where select Windows Insiders would hit error 0xD0000106. The company has narrowed down the root cause of the error and says that the fix will be tracked in a build soon.  Definitely a lot of action on the Windows Insider front today.
