Microsoft Edge is getting a new built-in tool that will help users in solving complex maths problems on a web page. As highlighted by Reddit user Leopeva64-2, the “Maths Solver” feature is now rolling out to select Insiders running Canary channel builds, and it is part of a Controlled Feature Roll-out (CFR).
This powerful tool is apparently powered by the Microsoft Maths solver app and Bing search, which help users with various mathematical problems, including trigonometry, algebra, arithmetic, statistics, calculus, and more.
Currently, there are two ways to use this feature in the browser. Firstly, users can manually type out an equation with the keyboard in the textbox. Alternatively, they can also use the selection tool to select a formula or equation available on a web page. Regardless of the method, Math Solver will use OCR to read the problem and then provide an appropriate solution to users.
If you’re a Microsoft Edge Canary Insider, you should be able to access the new Maths Solver tool by heading to Settings >> Appearance and then clicking the “Show Math Solver” option. If you choose to enable it, the browser will add a dedicated button on the toolbar.
The new Edge already allows users to sort items within Collections, but the company is now testing another update to make it easier for users to organize their Collections. Indeed, the latest Canary build 90.0.815.0 has added a new option to sort them by name, date created, and recently used.
Of course, both these features are still being worked on, and this could be a very early implementation.
