Microsoft is apparently dropping the glossy finish and reflective chrome accents on its Xbox 360 entertainment console for a matte finish and no chrome accents. Microsoft plans on delivering these new matte Xbox 360s within the next few weeks.

If you take a look at the image below, the Xbox on the left is the glossy version while the Xbox on the right is the matte version. The matte version sure looks nice:

“We are actively transitioning all our Xbox 360 S consoles to a matte finish. The consoles will start to arrive in stores over the coming weeks, so if you really love the idea of a glossy console don’t wait much longer,” Microsoft stated.

Microsoft currently offers the 4GB model with a matte finish and a 250GB model with a glossy finish. Aside from reducing manufacturing costs, no other details are known as to why Microsoft has decided to remove the glossy finish from the 250GB model.

We learned recently that Microsoft and LucasArts are teaming up to launch the limited edition Kinect Star Wars bundle for the Xbox 360, complete with a gold controller, white Kinect sensor, and R2-D2 themed Xbox 360. This Star Wars themed bundle will go on sale this holiday season for $449.99.
