The OneDrive team has been working to deliver some features that were originally announced back at Ignite 2016 earlier this year. While we reported just a few hours ago that OneDrive’s long anticipated activity feed was now available, the SharePoint/OneDrive sync will have to wait just a little bit longer (via ZDNet).

Even though the public preview has had the sync feature between SharePoint and OneDrive, it seems the developers just aren’t ready to push it through for December. According to the post by Stephen Rose, general users should see it next month.

We remain committed to providing a reliable and performant sync experience for all your Office 365 files and continue to refine the public preview to meet our quality expectations. We’re on target to make this capability generally available in January.

Furthermore, the team also released a standalone OneDrive sync client for Mac that can be used outside of the Mac App Store. A slightly more convenient way of distributing software, for certain. It can be downloaded straight from Microsoft by clicking this link.
