Microsoft Azure, Office 365 now available from UK datacenters

Microsoft has announced today that Azure and Office 365 are now generally available from multiple UK datacenter locations. As data residency is expected to be an important concern for many business looking to accomplish their digital transformation by moving to the cloud, this announcement will be especially important for customers in industries such as healthcare, banking and the public sector.

“Customers choosing Microsoft benefit from the company’s experience in enterprise computing and hybrid cloud – offering everything from optimization of compute resources to higher-level services for advanced analytics, media services, the Internet of Things (IoT), and big data,” explained the blog post.

Azure is generally available in 28 regions.

As of today, Azure is generally available in 28 regions and 11 geos around the world (more than any major cloud provider), and Microsoft has already announced plans for 6 additional regions and 2 additional geos.
