Once again, Microsoft is opening up one of its services and expanding its preview program to include on-premises Dynamics 365 for Operations. The new program will be open to eager testers next month in April allowing customers to test three different deployment options which will include on-premises/local version specifically for its Dynamics 365 for Operations ERP product.

According to a report from ZDnet’s Mary Jo Foley, Microsoft made the announcement earlier today that detailed the company’s rebranding of its Dynamics AX7 and its combined Dynamics 365 CRM and ERP efforts to Dynamics 365 for Operations along with plans to release both the hybrid and the on-premises versions of Dynamics 365 later this summer.

“In order to obtain the on-premises/local version, customers will need a Dynamics 365 for Operations license with Software Assurance/Enhancement Plan or a subscription model.”

Despite today’s announcement, Microsoft was relatively scant on the details and Foley believes there will be more news revealed in Seattle, Washington at the company’s Dynamics 365 Tech Conference this week.

We’ll update accordingly.
