In a news release today, Microsoft announced the architects and contractors for its Redmond campus modernization. Part of a project detailed last year, the groups will work together on building and designing 3 million square feet of new workspace on 72 acres of land.

Construction on new buildings will begin later this year and will be completed by the year 2022. Architect teams that are part of the project include LMN, NBBJ, WRNS Studio and ZGF Architects. The general contractors for the project include Skanska, Balfour Beatty, GLY, and Sellen.

Once complete, the new campus will feature 18 new 180,000 to 220,000 square feet buildings, built into four distinct villages. Buildings will be designed with accessibility features in mind to help enhance mobility and ease of access. There will also be spacious atrium and courtyards for improved daylighting, and the entire campus will be organized around the experience of pedestrians and cyclists.
