Microsoft and Xbox will be at E3 2019, Sony and PlayStation won’t be

E3 Presentation

Sony announced today that they would be foregoing the traditional E3 presentation during E3 2019. No reason has been given for their decision not to attend but many are speculating that it has something to do with the launch of their upcoming console, the PlayStation 5, and the company wanting to time an announcement for it closer to its release rather than months ahead during E3.

Microsoft was very quick to confirm that they will be attending E3 in 2019 and that Xbox will have a strong presence there as it always has in a tweet from the official Xbox account that read, “We can’t wait to see you all at @E3 2019.”

Microsoft’s Phil Spencer quoted the Xbox tweet and added that Microsoft has “A lot to share with fans at E3 2019. Always a high point of the year to witness the industry’s creativity and the energy of the community.”

During the closing moments of their E3 2018 Xbox presentation, Microsoft confirmed that they were working on the successor to the Xbox One generation of consoles so it’s safe to assume that the company will give viewers at least an update on its development. Even if they don’t though, with Sony out of the picture, their odds of dominating E3 next year (again) just doubled.
