Microsoft and Baidu partner to bring AI powered vehicles to the automotive market

Microsoft has become one of the several companies to sign up with Baidu – the massive Chinese search engine – in their effort to implement AI technology into the new self-driving car market. Announced on Wednesday, the news came alongside the announcement of Baidu’s new partnership with several other tech organizations including TomTom and Robert Bosch. We know fairly little about the project’s particulars, apart from the fact it’s being called “Apollo.”

Apollo is likely to remain under wraps for quite a bit longer as Baidu and its new partners talk behind closed doors about the nature of the project. With self-driving cars becoming more and more of a reality as time goes on, the promise of these massive companies all working together towards the future of the industry is a promising development. We’ll keep an eye out for how it works out moving forward.
