Mango’s Social Networking Beats iPhone and Android

Microsoft is currently working on a built-in application for Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) users that allows for combined control of popular social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Microsoft demonstrated the new and updated application, People Hub, via a video.

The way it works is very simple. The People Hub will have social networking features that include updates fetched from a user’s Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts. It is intended to make it easier to view your updates in one easy place, rather than going to three different places.

The new social networking features include a filter that allows a user to limit what updates they see. In other words, if a user wants to see updates from Twitter only, they are able to achieve this via a filter.

The home screen will also display any activity on those social networking sites. Users will be able to perform a variety of tasks such as replying to messages, re-tweeting messages, etc.

People Hub is expected to be one of the best and is easily the most anticipated social networking application for the Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) operating system.

Here is the video from Microsoft that showcases the new People Hub:

Microsoft is also allowing developers, who are writing apps that support the Mango update, to submit their applications for approval beginning August 22nd.

“Mango App ingestion starting next month is the only news today. Will follow up once the team reaches the next platform milestone. As for update delivery, all I can confirm is that Microsoft is on track to deliver Mango to Windows Phone customers as a free upgrade later this year,” a Windows Phone spokesperson said.
