Windows Phone owners get Redbox Instant thanks to Nokia and Verizon
Good news if you are a Nokia Lumia owner. If you were looking for the Redbox Instant app by Verizon, you’ve finally got it. Nokia Lumia owners will have exclusive access to the Redbox Instant app, thanks to Nokia teaming up with Verizon. The exclusivity will last for 60 days, which will allow all Windows Phone users to use the app.
Just like Netflix, the Redbox Instant app will allow users to try out the service for a whole month for free. During the free month trial, users will be able to stream movies and television series on their Lumia phones, and rent four DVD’s via the Redbox Instant kiosk system.
“Apps come to life on Windows Phone thanks to features like Live Tiles,” said Todd Brix, general manager, Windows Apps and Store, Microsoft Corp. “Redbox Instant by Verizon takes advantage of these features to enable users to enjoy their favorite movies on the go.”
One feature that’s very nice is the option to buy movies. With Redbox Instant, users can buy any movie digitally, instead of just renting them. This comes in handy if you’re planning on watching it more than once. The service is only $8 per month, and users have the option to add a Blu-Ray package for only $1 extra.
