The Lumia Denim update has been slowly making its way out to Lumia devices across the globe, but it has arrived faster for many of the lower and mid-range options compared to the higher-end devices like the Lumia 1020 and 1520.
The Lumia 1520 users, in particular, seem to be waiting the longest. While Demin has only recently started rolling out to 1520’s in Europe, the rest of the world is still eagerly waiting, including most of Africa, Latin America, North America, Asia Pacific, and until recently, the Middle East. Although, those with country variant 1520’s in the Middle East, particularly in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and the United Arab Emirates should be receiving update notifications now.
Sadly, it does seem like there are many Lumia devices that are yet to receive the update and at this pace, Windows 10 for phones might be just about ready to launch before they do. The good news is that if you are willing to risk it, any Lumia can get the latest version of Windows Phone 8.1 via the Microsoft Preview for Developers program, although it will not include any new Lumia-specific features that require the latest Lumia Firmware.
February 2015 is also the month that Microsoft promised to deliver a preview of Windows 10 for phones to existing Windows Phone 8 customers. Microsoft latest operating system will soon be obtainable via the new Windows Insiders app for Windows Phone. We’ll keep you updated on when that happens so stay tuned to WinBeta for more!Further reading: Lumia, Lumia 1520, Lumia Denim, Microsoft, Middle east
