It appears Microsoft Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL may launch in India in the coming weeks. Recently, one of India’s biggest retailers FlipKart listed the Lumia 640 in its April commissions payouts under the exclusive category. They didn’t reveal the complete details about its launch, but it seems the handset will be exclusively sold online the online retailer, and may hit retail in the country by the end of this month.
It’s not just FlipKart, Microsoft India’s website listed both handsets, the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL as coming soon. The handsets even had their footprints on Zauba, an import tracking website in India, which listed large quantities of both handsets being shipped to India. There’s no word on FlipKart about its bigger sibling, the Lumia 640 XL, but it’s highly probable that Microsoft will launch both devices at the same time.
As far as the specifications are concerned, the Lumia 640 rocks a 5-inch 720p display, a quad-core Snapdragon processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable memory. Other features include an 8MP camera for photos and videos, a 2,500 mAh battery and ships with Windows Phone 8.1 as its operating system.
It’s bigger sibling, the Lumia 640 XL, boasts a bigger 5.7-inch display sporting a resolution of 1,280 by 720 pixels, a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, 13MP main shooter, a massive 3,000 mAh battery and ships with the same Windows Phone 8.1 operating system pre-installed out of the box. Both handsets are Windows 10 ready, meaning they will get the update when it officially rolls out later this year. There’s no word about their pricing, but it should be affordable enough.
Stay tuned to WinBeta as we’ll update you as soon as both handsets are officially available in one of the biggest smartphones market.Further reading: Lumia, Lumia 640, Microsoft, Windows Phone
