Lumia 550 gets a price cut in the UK

Microsoft Lumia 550 went on sale at Carphone Warehouse last week, but it seems the retailer has decided to drop the price of the handset within a week after its launch (via Neowin). In the UK, the Lumia 550 carries a £99 price tag, as well as a variety of pay-as-you-go (PAYG) plans to choose from.

Previously, the lowest PAYG plan was £69.99 plus £10 for a new PAYG SIM, which brought the total cost to £79.99. However, starting today, customers interested in the handset can grab it for £69.99, including the upfront cost as well as the price for the new PAYG SIM card — a reduction of £10 over its existing price.

If you already have a PAYG SIM, it’s even cheaper. The retailer is offering the upgrade with Vodafone for just £49.99 with Virgin and O2 charging £59.99 for the upgrade. Nonetheless, it’s a decent price if you’re looking for a spare phone to carry around, and Windows 10 Mobile is your operating system of choice.
