The Lumia 535, the first Windows Phone device branded with the Microsoft name, is currently on sale at Tesco for £79. Having recently achieved significant success in penetrating the Indian market, the device is now being taken worldwide.
Sporting a 5-inch 960×540 IPS LCD screen, a Snapdragon 200 processor, 5MP front and rear facing cameras (with flash), 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a MicroSD card slot and a 1905mAh battery, it is certainly a steal for the price. Offering strong performance and little in the way of true compromise, all without breaking the bank, this is well worth a punt. As a first smartphone or for the budget-conscious buyer little else competes at this price point, for quality at least.
As might be expected, the device is locked to Tesco Mobile, though as Tesco mobile uses the O2 network as an MVNO, this means the device ought to work on O2 and Giffgaff as well. Otherwise, the device will have to be unlocked before switching networks.
