The Lumia 435 is one of the cheapest smartphones on the market. That’s even truer now with a new deal from Carphone Warehouse, a phone retailer in the UK that sells most of their devices unlocked and has a history of good prices, that allows users to get the low end handset for £39.99. The phone itself only costs £29.99 but requires a minimum top of £10.
The device is a low end phone with a 4 inch WVGA screen, 1 GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage and a 2MP camera. As evidenced in our Lumia comparison chart, the Lumia 435 is a significant drop in specs from some of the other Lumias but is also dramatically cheaper. In our unboxing and hands on post we described it as “a capable device with a super low price.”
The £10 top up is through mobile network EE and using them is the way to get the absolute cheapest deal. You can go through another carrier though such as Vodafone, O2, or Virgin but the device bumps up in price if you purchase one of the deals attached to them. The folks at Neowin point out that almost every device from Carphone Warehouse is network unlocked though, so customers should take that into account when purchasing their devices.
If you’re looking for a cheap device that works the Lumia 435 is a strong contender. It’s low price also makes it attractive as a backup phone or a device for kids who are prone to be hard on electronics.
