Long-awaited Steven Spielberg Halo TV series could begin filming this fall

It’s been quite a long time since Microsoft announced a live-action Halo television series produced by Steven Spielberg. As you may recall, this was right during the Xbox One Reveal event, when Microsoft unveiled its ambitious plan to create original films and series for Xbox users.

We’ve heard very few information about this Halo miniseries since then, except that it’s currently in development at Showtime. But according to Production Weekly, a website that lists the latest pre-production and production commitments across television and film, filming is expected to start later this Fall. The info was spotted first by entertainment website Pursue News (via Windows Central), which also noted that the project still has no cast and director.

Two months ago, Gary Levine, president of programming at Showtime shared his enthusiasm about the project. “It’s still live action, and it will definitely satisfy the fans of Halo and I think also satisfy the drama audiences of Showtime,” the exec said. We hope to hear more about the casting and backstory in the coming months.
