Last week, Microsoft launched the $399 2TB launch edition Xbox One in select markets at Microsoft Stores and local retailers.  Since then, many reports and rumors have been floating around that Microsoft will not be making any more Xbox One S 2 TB models. We reached out to Microsoft in order to confirm or deny these rumors.

A Microsoft spokesperson told us via email that the 2 TB Xbox One S was released as a special launch edition in limited quantities only.  The spokesperson also pointed us to the fact that while Microsoft is thrilled at the amount of interest received, they are always looking for opportunities to offer choice and fantastic value to fans.  Additionally, the spokesperson also offered advice for those looking for the 2 TB Model and mentioned some upcoming Xbox One S bundles. Here’s the statement:

Please check with your local retailer to determine whether the 2TB Xbox One S is still available in your market. You can also pre-order the Xbox One S ‘Gears of War 4’ 2TB Limited Edition bundle now at microsoftstore.com and other select retailers. We’ve also recently announced the Xbox One S ‘Madden NFL 17’ 1TB Bundle for fans in the U.S. and Canada and the Xbox One S Halo Collection 500GB and 1TB Bundles for fans in the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand. All three bundles will be available starting Aug. 23 and we will have more to share on future bundles in more markets in the coming weeks.

So, if you’re in the market for a 2 TB Xbox One S, it’s best to check online and with your retailers for the availability of the model. While the supplies may indeed be limited (and sold out in the U.K. but still available at Amazon U.S.), you could be lucky enough to find a 2 TB model for yourself.  As always, though, please let us know if you’re in search of a 2 TB Xbox One S, and your other thoughts on this by dropping us a comment below.
