Leaked email reveals Microsoft Security Essentials Beta program

An email was leaked indicating that Microsoft is planning on an upcoming beta version of a new Security Essentials program. Microsoft hasnt revealed too much about the software, except that it would contain the “latest protection features.”

Microsoft is gearing up for the next version of Microsoft Security Essentials (currently version 2). It’s possible that the new beta will be for a major new release of Security Essentials, and we think it might be version 3. Microsoft isn’t saying too much about the next version of Security Essentials, so we will just have to wait and see.

Here is the email that was sent out to beta testers:

Thank you so much for being a part of the Microsoft Security Essentials v2 Beta.

You have indicated that you are interested in receiving invites for Connect programs from Microsoft, so we would like to invite you to participate in the Microsoft Security Essentials Public Beta program on Microsoft Connect.

This program is for the newest Beta version of Microsoft Security Essentials which has the latest protection features. Be one of the select few who get access to this Beta release by signing up now to reserve your spot!

For those interested in signing up for the beta program (before Microsoft removes the opportunity), go here.

Credit to the guys over at Neowin for spotting this first.
